Belle Meade Island Roundabout
Brick-paver roundabout apron, curved concrete edge restraints and asphalt paving on Belle Meade Island Drive in Miami, performed by Pimentel Construction Group with H&J Asphalt under a City of Miami contract.
The Belle Meade Island Drive roundabout is a City of Miami traffic-calming project led by H&J Asphalt. Pimentel crews built the brick-paver truck apron around the central island on a compacted base with curved concrete edge restraints, then placed and compacted the asphalt approaches and resurfaced the surrounding roadway.
Pavers and asphalt meet at a curve on every roundabout, and that joint is where most of them fail. Having the same crew set the edge restraint, lay the pavers and run the paver against it is how the finished circle reads as one piece.
