For agencies and GCs
We install pavers as part of roadway and traffic-calming packages, alongside the curb, asphalt and drainage, so the transitions are built by one crew.
Pavers are only as good as the base under them. We excavate, compact the limerock and bedding sand the way we build a road, then set and restrain the pavers so they stay flat under cars and South Florida rain.
Most sunken or wavy paver driveways were installed on thin, uncompacted base, without a concrete edge restraint, or without slope to drain. Water gets under the bedding sand, washes it out, and the pavers settle into ruts. We build the base in compacted lifts, slope it to drain away from the house, pour or set a solid edge restraint, screed the bedding sand, lay the pattern, compact it and sweep in joint sand.
We set brick pavers on public work too, including the truck apron on the Belle Meade Island roundabout for the City of Miami, where the pavers meet curved concrete restraint and fresh asphalt. That is the hardest joint in paving, and the same care goes into a residential driveway apron.
Pavers can also solve drainage: permeable pavers let water pass through into a stone base, which helps on lots where there is nowhere for runoff to go.

Commercial and municipal paver areas and crosswalk inlays.

Open-joint systems over stone base for on-site drainage.
Sunken areas lifted, base rebuilt, pavers reset and re-sanded.

For a driveway or walkway, we walk the property, check drainage and give you a written price that includes base, edge restraint and permit.

Pavers cost more up front but can be lifted and reset if roots or settlement move them, and they look the best. Concrete is durable and low-maintenance. Asphalt is the most economical. See our driveway page for a full comparison.
Almost always base: too thin, not compacted, or washed out by water because of poor slope or missing edge restraint.
Sealing is optional. It deepens color and helps lock joint sand, but needs to be redone periodically.
Driveway aprons in the right-of-way do in most municipalities, and many cities require one for the whole driveway. We handle it.
